Fabia Stalling and more

Featured Replies

Hey there!

I'm writing this because i have some serious problems on my year and a half old Skoda Fabia 1.4 16v.

The first one consists on car stalling when the car stops or even when it's moving.

The other consists on the Motor Control light that keeps turning on, and sometimes the EPC light too! Yesterday it turned on the ESR light for the first time... while I stopped at a traffic light set!

I went to the dealer three times by now. They seem to correct the problem but a week later it comes again...

What should I do?! I'm getting pretty upset about this...

Thanks

unfortunatly it sounds as though thats an intermittant electrical fault which are a pain in the **** anyway, perservere, these problems take time to find and resolve. There is a car at ours and the technician has resorted to working from the battery inwards to find a high electrical drain that keeps making the battery go flat. His diag computer didn't detect anything.

Another suggestion in regards to your car, how many miles has it done 40-50k+. If you feel confident just check the cambelt for slackness, we have had a few cars come in with slack belts, if the timing is just slightly out that may cause the stalling.

These two problems may be connected, they may not.

Hope this helps

Hi again

Everytime I took it to the dealer, the problem reported had something to do with the gasoline quality... something like that... it said that the gas used in the car wasn't explosive enough... :| Tried to change gas and still runs the same...

Anyway... the car has about 35k miles and I think that the problems which I refered may be connected...!

I was reading some other threads and read something regarding throttle problems... do you think this could be the same?

btw... could you explain what the cambelt is?! I'm Portuguese and I don't know anything about mechanics...! :P Sorry!

Thanks...

Nuno

The cambelt, is very important and i can't explain it very well, but i'm sure some else who can translate mechanics into english would be able to help!!

If in doubt get someone you trust to check it.

If it is then u could have a problem.

The 1.4 16v is recommended to run on 98 ron unleaded, i can only find 97 ron, but seems ok!!!
