Intermittent Power Steering

Featured Replies

I have had my PAS pump replaced and I m still without power steering

I also had the sensor replaced but I still have a fault code due to the sensor not being recognised

Whats strange is when ever the car is running but stationary the power steering light goes off but there is still no PAS

When I move off the PAS light comes on

Can anyone explain what might be causing this behaviour - ie why the PAS warning light goes off when the car is stationary

Cheers

Why do you have multiple threads on the same issue?

Its difficult keeping up with them all.

The PAS system needs a speed signal, until you move off it doesnt know there is a fault.

Heres the issue -

We ve replaced the pump and sensor now - The sensor was done about a week ago

I VAG COM the car after replacing the sensor and it indicated the power steering sensor had a break in the circut so I thought the mechanic had fit it incorrectly

About two days ago the PAS warning light would go out when ever the car was at a standstill but illuminate when the car started moving

I took the car to the mechanic today to get it checked and we plugged it in to the computer and there were no fault codes

However there is still no PAS steering - Please please help

This car has cost me a fortune so far - I ve used up every spare nickel to get this PAS fixed and its still not worked

I simply do not know what to do

Push it off the cliff :mad::mad:

Were the pump and sensor you bought new or used?

There are several courses of action you could take -

1. Take it to a dealer.

2. Take it to an independant who knows what he's talking about.

3. Join Freedom and support the site that has provided you with so much free information which would have cost you a whole lot more than the already large amounts of ££ you've spent.

4. Stop posting multiple threads asking the same questions.

maybe the power steering is working but the front tyres are flat

:sofahide:

Could be a leak. Most prob from a pas pipe on the rack
