vRS First Service - advice please

Featured Replies

Hello helpful people,

My Octy vRS MK2 is coming up for its first birthday, and its on about 8500 miles. I have a letter from my dealer saying its due a service, 'to comply with Skoda warranty'. The question is, what needs to be done at this stage? i.e is it just an oil change, filters etc. (excuse my ignorance), or is it a full service costing me shed loads of money?

Also, does anyone else experience a ropey sounding start, especially first time in the morning? It is not unusual for mine to turn over for about 5-7 seconds before firing up, and when it does, it splutters a bit and generally sounds like a big diesel meat wagon.

All help appreciated...

Tom

Before we can answer your question properly we need to find out what service schedule it is on , fixed or variable? To find this out there is a sticker in the front of your service book with a load of letters and numbers one of which will be QG1 (variable) or QG2 (fixed).

Hello,

Its on a QG1, but i have been thinking it may be better to go to a fixed interval of 10,000 miles, or at least have the oil changed etc every 10,000 miles.

Thanks, Tom

First advice - don't go to a dealer. Go to an independent VAG specialist where the costs will be a lot lower. As long as the garage is VAT registered and use VAG approved parts, your warranty won't be affected. I've just had my Octy 1 serviced (28000 miles) at Star Performance.
