Parrot help

Featured Replies

Nice guys at Halfords (!!!!!!) have fitted a Parrot 3000 Evolution car kit for me. works well and generally pretty pleased, however it seems to be connected to a permenant live feed, so when the car is parked out side the house my phone stays connected to the Parrot via bluetooth.

I expected it to only be active with the ingintion on. Don't want to back to Half**ks as they took 2.5 hrs to connect a few plugs. Would be grateful if anyone can tell me what wire to move to where so this only works of the ingnition.

2 parrots sitting on a perch, one says to the other, 'can you smell fish?'

Totaly irrelevent you your question, but i couldnt help myself....sorry. :D

You need to take a switched live from somewhere (ideally the fuse box) and connect it to the switched live of the parrot kit.

Halfords fitter have most likely looped the permanent live to the temporary one, or not read the instructions, have fitted a temporary live and then not swapped the leads around accordingly if they used the ISO harness and then some quad lock adapter.

I'd take it back and make them do it properly myself.

Basically they have wired it up wrongly.

The Octavia II doesn't have a switched live at the headunit so it's not as simple as plugging in a piggy back wiring loom which is how many of these so called plug and play units work.

As Mark eluded to above you'll need to run a seperate feed from the fuse box, there is one marked for the telephone which is ideal. It's a bit more of an in depth install as it requires a wire from Skoda to insert into the fuse box and some more bits of the dash to be removed.

Certainly not a huge mountain to climb and one which has been discussed on here many times so a search should reveal more info.

I would suggest you go back to them and ask them to do it properly or give you the fitting cost back so that you can find somone to do it for you.

isn't there a switched live on the diagnostics port you could loop off??

No point. There is a place for it in the fuse box and you can then fuse it up correctly.

Which part number is that? None of the writeups seems to mention that, i've been using JohnnyC's excellent pics as a basis for doing mine (awaiting mute/speaker leads from VW dealer to finish it off - so not wired to power so far)

000 979 227 is one of them but I can't remember if that is for the small or large and all mine are in the garage.

I'll try to remember to dig one out and have a look.

Much appreciated.

I probably should take it back but havn't got the time or patience TBH.

So, as I understand it it's a case of disconnecting the orange wire from where half**ks have put it, splicing this to a bit extra wire and wiring to the spare phone sector in the fuse box with the suggested connector?

That's pretty much it yes.

Thanks, your help is much appreciated

Might be ok to use a bullet connector into the loom of the parrot, to save you splicing any wires.
