Fuel Cover will not close

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

After filling up last night i noticed the cover would not close flush with the car!

I tried flicking the lever to open the cover a few times in case the catch was just a bit stiff but nothing.

This must be simple to fix.

I would be very greatful for any advice

Diesel fabia estate 06.

Thanks

Ian

**EDIT**

OK Bit more searching the threads has turned up this what looks like a coommon problem, can't find the fix with pictures someone mentioned though!?

Anyone got a link to that thread or specific post.

Cheers

This should be an easy fix. Mine did the same a fortnight ago!

Open the boot and pull back the trim near to where the fuel filler would be. You should be able to see where the release cable enters the release mechanism. What has probably happened is that the retainer has dropped out of the housing so that you can see the cable. Just push it firmly back in and all should be ok!

If you dont want to do it yourself the warranty should cover this (it did for mine).

Same happened to my vRS after about a year. Local Skoda dealer fixed it in 10 mins saying "Skoda make greatr cars but use crap clips". Replaced clip and presto - sorted FOC.

Same here, first time I filled up form new, took it back to dealer and they fixed it within 10 min...

Thanks guys

Ian

PS I did do a number of searches but didn't turn up that thread!

Ian, had same happen to my estate just after getting it, took it back to dealers and they did it as I waited, took all of 10 mins. I did look at doing it myself but all the advice I could find didn't seem to go along with the layout on the estate.

In which case i may just take mine back and save my self any hassel.
