Fabia air conditioning

Featured Replies

Hi, i have a y reg fabia comfort, i had the aircon serviced last year, a regass and check over.

i have found that in the past few months it has become intermittent in working, i turn the fan on, and switch the ac button on, this is illuminated and also the engine revs rise, sometimes the cooling is good, other times the air stays warm and takes a long time to get cool.

i am trying to locate the Low side service port valve, i have a gauge which i would like to put on the valve and actually see how the system is and what state of charge it is in.

i would appreciate any help.

thanks in advance.

Sounds like your vent flap motor has gone (the motor that changes it from hot to cold)

hi,

thanks for the info

is there any way that i can check this out for myself, before taking it to be looked at ???

Easiest way is to connect it up to VAG-COM to read off any fault codes.... my Y-reg Fabia did the same and it was the Evap Temp Sensor (which is a common fault)

Why don't you give in and get the system checked over/serviced. Checking the pressure at just the low side of the system will not tell you much - you really need a set of gauges one for high side and one for low side - with adaptors. If you just start changing things then eventually you might sort it but you will have spent quite a lot of money. Why not see if any of the VAG marque garages are still offering a cheapish service deal. That way, if it ends up being a flap motor, then you can opt to buy one from them and spend a few hours replacing it - saving money in the process - but at least the garage service will have checked for leaks and made sure the correct weight of liquid is now in the system, leaving you to sort out any "external" problems like flap motor and/or evap sensor. Your Skoda dealer should always be your first choice for model specific parts as he should only be carrying the latest variant of any parts - and from the vin code he should be able to get it right first time.
