60k service and cambelt change

Featured Replies

All for a touch over 400 quid.

I decided to take the plunge and get my Octy serviced by a 'specialist' rather than the main dealer, fortunately I have located one very close to me in Tavistock.

Its only a small outfit but the owner seems to know his stuff and when I picked mine up showed me all the parts he had replaced along with an explanation of what they did (I am now an expert on pulley tensioners :D ) without being asked. He even provided a car for me free of charge (ok a 1993 Golf with 155000 miles but it drove fine ;) )

For info the cam belt showed very little sign of wear (just some very minor cracking starting to show on the smooth side) and the water pump looked so new I thought he hadn't changed it !

Apart from the service parts (filters etc) nothing else required his attention, not even the brake pads which have now covered 58500 miles and 'still have loads of wear left'

All in all I'm pretty impressed, both with the garage and my Octy :)
