First test of Nitrous!

Featured Replies

Wow! WwwweeeeeeeeeeeEEEEee!

Stunning effect! All of a sudden, where there were black plumes of smoke there is now not much at all. NOS cutting in at 21psi, once my gauge pops past 1.5 bar, you get a nice extra surge in power that wasn't there before. It just keeps pulling.

It clearly still needs mapping for it, but I had some fun! So much fun my coolant temps hit 88 degC (normally around 80) and oil was in the mid 80s too, usually around mid 70s.

Can't wait to see the full effect of what the NOS will do for me. :D

the more i read about your car, the more it scares me :D

vrooooooooom BANG

good luck jason :)

Plumb in a hose to the driver's cabin - twice as much fun!!!

So will it be running next saturday PLEASE :D:D I am bringing my child and willing to trade

I'm sure he/she is lovely, but if I'm gonna have children I want the fun of making them too. :P

Awe go on he doesn't cost that much to keep, honest :D

Not killed yourself yet Jason? Things must be going well. Anyone else thinks that Jason should have a license before he is aloud to breed?:D

The test sounds like it would be fun!

Not dead yet. :P

The test sounds like it would be fun!

But worse than a driving test if you fail :thumbdwn:

Sounds like you're well on the way to a chernobyl style meltdown.......I think i'd want an ejection seat fitted just in case.

When do we get to see videos taken on your private test track?

Serious question here mate about the nitrous -

Is your system like permanently on - left always on - purely triggered by boost pressure, or do you need to open the bottle valve every time you drive off, and remember to shut it off at the end of every trip?.

I mean, can you both tootle down to the shops and then floor it on the motorway, without needing to mess about too much?

I ran NOS years ago on a petrol and found that I had to mess about both before and after every trip, and the NOS would leak away with fairly little use (that was before I discovered Teflon thread tape). The nature of it made daily living with NOS unfriendly although when running right it was amazing.

On the positive side - if you floor it, remapped for NOS yet decide to keep the NOS 'off' you will make even more glorious smoke - Joy!

Cheers

Bas

Begininng to sound much like the car in back to the future  ...when you get her up to 88 mph :ukliam: :ukliam: :ukliam: :ukliam: :ukliam: :ukliam: :ukliam: :ukliam:

Bas - The system is in theory "always on" - but I have a trigger down by my headlight switch which arms the boost switch, and once I hit 21 PSI then it starts injecting. I do need to have the bottle on all the time when driving if I wish to do this, so if I get a hankering for some NOS, I would have to stop and undo the top of the bottle - OR as I may do, try to remember to undo the bottle at the start/end of each journey. ;) It's recommended to shut the bottle when the car is turned off though - just for safety. The system is tight though - As it's at 700psi right to the solenoid in the engine bay, even when it's turned off the system is still full and at pressure (unless you empty the system first) and it doesn't lose any pressure - gone for 3 days or so and the gauge on the bottle reads the same. :)
