Advice sought on Temp Sender issue

Featured Replies

2001 Octavia vRS (45000miles)

Had the engine diagnostic light come on recently and although it seemed to be running as normal, I took my car to the main dealer.

Their computer came up with the following fault

16502 P0118 035

Sender for coolant temperature -G62

Signal too high

I was charged

Nothing much to worry about, the temp sender is a common fault but doesn't normally show itself on the instrument gauge. More than likely the fault will pop up again, you need the new 'green top' part to fix. I'd get the part and fit it yourself, its dead easy and takes no more than 10 mins. Instructions on this site somewhere.

Coolant level is also known, just put a wee bit more in (as in no more than 10mm above the max). This sorted it for me.

Finally, get yourself Vagcom and save those diagnostic fees.
