Switchable Remap Possible? (2.0T FSI)

Featured Replies

I've had a look about here and the usual tuners, but haven't found anyone advertising a switchable remap for the Octy II vRS.

Is this something that just aint possible for technical reasons, or will most tuners provide it at extra cost?

Someone will likely ask why I want this....Its something I've found useful on the Fabia - making it less lethal when the missus drives, adjusting for servicing, or making is quicker for tracknights etc...

Cheers

AMD Technik do one as well called the one click........

Cheers, but I don't see what I'm looking for (just doing website window shopping at this stage...got to get the car first - roll on end of June! ;))

Revo do the SPS1, SPS2, SPS3 switchable systems, but when you look at the Octy II vRS products it shows:

SPS 1 N/A

SPS 2 N/A

SPS 3 N/A

AMD must do some sort of product but whether a switchable version is possible on the Octavia, they dont say:

"We don't currently have any products listed for the Skoda Octavia 2.0 Fsi Turbo VRS but it's most likely that they haven't been added to the website. Please either call us on +44 (0)1869 323205 or contact us for more information".

I'll send an email out to all the guys who might be able to do this and see if they can give a price. My preference would be Star Performance (who seen to the Fabia), but even they dont seem to have a switchable remap listed as an option.

The 2.0TFSI engines aren't compatible with SPS units.

Revo developed a specific device in two variations for the engine - the Select, and the Select Plus.

With the Select, you can change between stock power, performance power, two other default performance modes, and anti-theft.

With the Select Plus however you can tweak the map yourself using the included software and a laptop. You can store upto three of your own presets.

You will have to go to a Revo dealer first to upload the software, you can't initially upload it with a Select or Select Plus.

If you had clicked the second and third link I posted for you it reads Select or Select Plus for TFSi applications.

Aaah I see (TFSI would make sense:rolleyes:).

When I clicked the links I saw the picture of the old fashioned looking Climatronic at the top. Then when I went off to the new Octavia specific page, the Select and Select Plus weren't listed as options, ony the SPS range, which had N/A next to them all. Only one price is listed (£499.00 + VAT), I reckon this will just be the standard remap without any switchable options.

They also mention the "imminent release of the new SPS Plus device" which allows some control over the settings.

My local Revo dealer should be able to clarify the whats, whys and how much...questions, but thats good news that it looks like something is available that'll do it. I think this is going to be pricey!

Cheers for the help!

The £499 plus VAT will get you the map - it has the switching built in. You will then have to buy a switch to utilise the feature.

The bit about imminent is just out of date web pages.

The figures quoted are a little ambitious though. You'll get the torque, possibly more but not the HP.

There is an interesting thread about it here which may take a while to wade through but it would be worth it (ignore the flipant comments at the begining as there is a history to this).

Nope, not on that one.

Certainly did take a lot of reading!! So, in conclusion take the figures quoted by Revo (and other tuners) with a pinch of salt, but still expect a big improvement in the performance? Going from a remapped Fabia vRS to the Octavia test drive, I definitely found the Octy lacking some ooomph lower down in the range. By the sounds of the decent torque gain, this should prevent me from missing the Fabia so much!!

This might give you an idea of what to expect...

The accelleration looks rapid indeed, much like the fabia in second gear although being a diesel, it only goes to 50 like that before needing shifted up a gear. This looks fantastic though, lots of :D :D :D factor!!!

Superchips Bluefin its switchable to stock code athough takes 10 mins, but at roling road days the map is proving to be one of the best.

The Bluefin is not a true switchable map. The reason it takes 10 minutes is that it 'flashes' the EEPROM and re writes the code every time you use it.

I have driven the mapped Fabia, a standard Octy and a remapped Octy. IMHO and without wishing to start a Fabia vs Octy thread, the mapped Fabia is as quick off the mark if not quicker than a standard TFSi. It would also give a mapped one a run for it's money up to around 60mph.

What you gain with a mapped Octy is oodles of diesel like torque through the mid range. A recent rolling road session graph for another members car should show what I mean -

I agree I have both fabia vrs and 2.0t fsi,The fabia is as quick to 100 slightly quicker in the midrange awsome torque of the fabia but traction from a standing start is not as good.I can recomend superchips though the Tfsi feels like a thoroughbred race engine ,awsome torque not quit as much as fabia but also revs out to big topend rush, believe me its fun and i dont think you need anymore than that, unless traction would be a big problem,Iv always been a revo fan but superchips have inpressed me.

I was talking a revo fabia and stock Tfsi when making comparison BTW ;)

Obviously. You can't compare a Revo'd Fabia with a Revo'd Octavia Mk2 ;)
