are we ripped off?

Featured Replies

Haven't found any Octy's over here [Chattanooga] but a local mall has a brand new Audi A4 on show, 2.0 litre DOHC turbo 200bhp, 6 speed auto box of some kind, with loads of other goodies, superb interior, at equivalent of just over 16000 pounds, on the road. Drool, drool.......

That sounds cheap to me!

Haven't you realised that we live in Rip-Off-Britain?

Having said that Mr B.Liar has done a roaring trade in discount immigrants over the last few years.

i.e. let one in, and get two 'under the counter' free.

They'll still have state taxes to go on top of that price but they're nowhere near the 17.5% we pay (About 5% I think).

So yes you do get ripped off. the Normal idea for companies is to just change the $ for a

Which is why, with import duty, tax and shipping, it is still much cheaper for me to bring in tuning goodies for the MR2 from the USA than for me to buy them here.

Price quoted was bottom line for Tennessee. They paste a document inside the side window which is very informative. Tells you where the car parts were sourced and built - this one built in Germany, engine from Czech Rep., , and so on. Something like $31500 incl. taxes. Add about $5000 for an extra load of fittings/sports goodies - e.g. sunroof, bigger wheels /tyres. sports suspension etc. But the spec as shown would have been quite good enough for me!!
