Engine bay clean up

Featured Replies

Have begun the task of getting the yellow peril back to its sparkling best after 16 months of neglect on a garage ramp. Engine bay first before turning attention to the interior, body work and brakes/suspension.

Should be all tidy ready for GTI International in June.

Spangly, oh yes. Look closely and you might be able to pick out the words ABD Racing. Polishes up nice and shiney!

that's looking good:thumbup:

a lot of money there! think i have put my dump valve in the wrong place looking at that:(

Looking sweet! Lot of elbow grease put in there. Look forward to having a look at it at GTi International in June then! hehe .

started off at the pipe going to the intercooler bottom left of the bay but getting problems with it sticking open and cutting the engine out.

where have you put it?

bottom left of engine bay the intercooler hose, thats where the instructions from baliey said it went.

Very nice engine bay, love the abd inlet manifold, very spangly

You have an atmostpheric dump valve on that mart, what did you do with the standard one whilst that one was fitted.

It is actually better for the DV to be mounted as close to the throttle body as possible, I would think though its the dump valve type itself causing your issues.

Kin'ell Leeboy you could eat your dinner out of your engine bay.....probably cleaner than most UK hospitals too:rofl:

Love the intake manifold, it looks absolutely superb!!!:)

Makes my engine bay look sh!tty and unloved.....:(

Looks mint Leeboy, very smart indeed!!! And nice to see its not just "bling" either!!

Only comment from me really, why no pink coolant? I thought G12plus was all that was permissable for the 1.8T engine? Just a thought!!

Another thought, any concerns about not having a cambelt cover? And another - is an uprated cambelt available!!??

:)

Oh, and a new coolant tank is circa

I guess a nice alloy tank would look best, though you can't see what the coolant level would be without peeking inside.

As for pink stuff, I've got blue, could it make that much difference?

Potentially, yes. I know Skoda recommend the use of the G12 plus for sure. Best ask the experts anyway... Ross?

I'm not keen on alloy tanks tbh, but like I say, a new OEM one isn't much money and well worth it when it comes to freshening up the engine bay!
