Offside wing mirror glass

Featured Replies

Well after a fantastic weekend away in London, I returned to my car to find the offside wing mirror glass missing, and the frame cracked where I presumed it was hit, however after checking around on the floor, I couldn't see any broken glass so maybe someone just pinched it :(

I'm guessing the glass is available separately, does anyone know what it will roughly cost? Do I need to order any other parts at the same time? It a heated motorized mirror, the motor and heater wires appear okay. I'm guessing the mirror comes with a backing plate which just clips onto the motorized section.

Thanks.

Right spoke to the dealer, and cost is 22.02+VAT, which is better than expected. However, theres not one in the country..... and it'll be a two week wait :(

So, does anyone know whether any other VAG cars share the same part? Surely they must do..?

I had a similar problem with the near side a few weeks ago. As far as i'm aware they're unique to the Fabia, GFS couldn't find them on their system. Mine was about the same price IIRC.

You could try raiding a scrap yard.

Good i'm glad i'm not the only one. Tried local scrap yards, even emailed all the ones on fleabay, but no-one is currently breaking a fabia vRS. I can get a none heated one (I think) but don't fancy changing it twice.

The mirror looks physically similar to a mkIV golf mirror, however the mounting is like a mkII, so that no good. Oh well, such is life

I have changed/swapped my mirror glass from my old Audi A4 (B5) 1995-2001.

which had a blind spot built in (drivers side) + heated , to my furbie also also there tinted blueish so looks cool.

as when I bought my furbie someone had used one of those stick on mirror glass over a smashed original.

get down the scappy and pick one up from an A4 best do both mirrors.

 Cheers KTea88 - thats the info I was looking for, I liked the look of the blue tinted glass from the golfs and now I know I can fit similar.

Off to the scrap yard for me then over the weekend, although saying that I don't need the car much next week, so I could just hang on until the skoda part arrives :)

I've had the same, a stupid woman in a Mini smashed off my mirror last week, and didn't even stop! A narrow lane, I slowed down (15mph) and put 2 wheels on the grass hoping she'd do the same, but no, she just kept coming and smashed up my mirror. The result is
