Help please, re colour

Featured Replies

I have just ordered a 2.0 FSI Octy hatch L&K in diamond silver metallic. DTD have told me that the only colour available, at present, is Race Blue. Silver would be a factory order which might be end of July. At present 0% finance is available, but this is due to finish at the end of June.

When I come to sell the car, would Race Blue (non-metallic) fetch less than Diamond Silver metallic?

Do a trawl around the dealers, someone might have one in stock, if you ask Skoda very nicely they can check which dealers have had a car in that spec supplied in the last few months. You can always buy it from another stealer & get it serviced locally

the dealers are meant to help each other out with stock but that I believe dosent always work

If its not the colour you want dont buy it.

Go on the internet & see what prices people are quoting for the car you want. most dealers can be squeezed to price match, that way if the cars less you can afford a bit more on the finance

I thought Race Blue was only available on the RS?

They've got it wrong; 'Race Blue' is metallic and EXCLUSIVE to the Octy vRS (and Fabia vRS Ltd Edition).

Get DTD to check their facts. The two blues available on Octavia are Dynamic Blue (solid) or Storm Blue (metallic - looks quite nice in the brochure, a shade or two darker than Race Blue).

Generally, metallic hold value a touch better than solid colours.

Even though 0% is availabe to end June I would have thought this should still apply to a car order now, regardless of delivery date. Its not your fault car doesn't get to you until July (or later).

Good luck.

I also thought the Race Blue was a metallic and is only available on the vRS.

Just had a look on the Skoda UK website and now I'm more confused!

koda UK - The New Octavia - Specifications - Colours lists available colours and shows Race Blue as one of the thumbnails - no mention of it being metallic although others specifically say they are. However the page also confirms that Race Blue Metallic is a vRS option.

I then downloaded the brochure (http://www.skoda.co.uk/skoda3g/content/showroom/new_octavia_quickv1.pdf) and Page 19 lists the available colours. Here there is a Race Blue Metallic but no mention of a plain Race Blue!

I notice that it doesn't say some colours are vRS only which I know they did for the Mk I Octy.

So is it possible that DTD have been confused by the Skoda info, and that you might get a Race Blue metallic without having to pay the extra

Anthracite Grey, much better than silver. :D

Everyone's buying silver lately, so don't buy it based on resell values. Only buy it it YOU like it! And NEVER choose a colour based on colour chart or the brochure - find the colour on a car. I didn't buy the Graphite similar to Antracite arguement, and actively sought a dealer with both colours. Glad I did as, although there is a subtle difference, the colours were quite a bit off thedealer colour charts!

Storm blue is vary nice. A little dark for me, but a very nice colour. Refined and classy, and onewhich would suite an L&K nicely IMO.

Totally agree with you on that one. My fabia estates were silver and when it came to getting my Octavia, I looked at Silver, Antracite and a blue and I still preferred silver.

Yes, silver is everywhere, but when gleamingly (is there a word? :D ) clean, it looks the dogs dangly bits.

IMO, only go with a metallic paint.

Race blue is a good colour for a VRs, almost as good as black I would have said :)

Thanks for your help.

Metallic paint is a no cost option on L&K, so no refund is applicable.

The 0% finance is a bit of a red herring, as this is designed to shift 'stock' cars, which may could be old spec. Skoda customer relations tell me that all factory oredered cars have a wait time of 12-16 weeks.

I certainly don't want to risk getting an old spec car.

Well it's you that has to live with the car for 3 years and the colour won't make much of a difference to the resale price unless you pick something wild like yellow.

If you like silver then you should get silver.

My GF loves silver cars, I think it makes a lot of cars look a bit bland.

Black looks great but is a real pain to keep nice.

It was race blue for me.

Black all the way!! ;) A beeatch to keep clean tho :(

I have an L&K in STORM blue. I took ages to decide on the colour between the darker grey metallic and this blue. I am happy with the colour and have had lots of compliments on the colour ( females mostly ). I'd go with something you like but also a mind to resale. Metallic silver is a safe bet too. I'd avoid the non metallic blue if you are getting a L&K as it would look cheap next to the excellent spec and leather etc

As the 0% finance appeals to my wife, I'll be happy to take storm blue metallic, as long as the car has the current spec and we have it by the 30 June, which is the final day of the interest free credit scheme.

I will be very jealous if you do get a Race Blue L&K. When I bought my L&K I wanted Race Blue but the dealer said it was only available on the VRS. So I got Sahara Beige and Skoda discontinued it a month after my car was delivered...:(
