Nokia N73 - whats it like?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at changing my ancient Nokia 6600 in the coming weeks because it is finally showing signs of age (distorted sound, the 6 key doesnt work). Its done well seeing as Briskodian "The Gavsters" had it for 12 months before selling it to me 18 months ago.

I've been drawn towards the Nokia N73 by its ability to run TomTom mobile (like I do on the 6600) - but has anyone got experience of it?

I've got one and it is ok-ish. Phones seem to get slower and slower the newer they get, and this one is no exception. The picture quality is great though, but lack of proper voice-dialling (for in the car on the handsfree) and timed profiles (without resorting to applications you have to buy), it is not the best phone I had. Has good standby time though, even with BT permanently switched on.

I have TT installed on it, but as I've not got a GPS to go with it, I can't really say how well it would work.

lack of proper voice dialling?? what on earth are you on about Q?

i have an N73 and have had few a good few months and i find its very good, no slower than my N91 previously or the 6680 before that.

the voice dialling is brilliant!! no setting up it will just recognise names regardless of who is saying it and sets a voice tag for every name on the phone of what the name is on the phone if you get what i mean :)

the only issue i have with mine is that the paint on the top is quite soft and the corners have worn quite quickly but other than that a good phone with very good battery life :)

Try being Dutch for a day :(

It just doesn't work for me, no matter how I pronounce 'home' it just doesn't dial it... My Nokia's of old would allow you to record the voice tag, and that worked brilliantly.

you need the n95 not the n73, splash the cash and stop being a tight ar$e:thumbup:

Het spijt me, ik spreek geen Nederlands.

Someone did once tell me that Dutch is more of a throat infection than a language though

odd, i thought the voice recognition stuff would be able to pick it up anyway  loads of people have used my voice dialling and got the right person first time. moan to nokia and claim victimisation :D

Perhaps you need Dutch firmware, Q :D

or just change the menu to Dutch :P

Me and the other half both have N73's. Yes they can be a little slow but nothing major. The other halfs rebooted a few time for no reason. Fit a 2gb card in and tomtom and I'm happy.

Firmware update seems to have fixed the random reboot :)
