on checking the oil again on Sunday morning i noticed on the dip stick the oil almost comes up to the upper most grove out of the 2 on the end of the stick.

Where should the oil be reching !?

I guessed that out of the 2 bends / groves the lower would be minimum and the upper maximum but does anyone know for sure !?

The only other things on the stick that i could see for measuring were the orange coloured blob type clips things which i thought would have been guides or something !?

The orange blobs are for guiding. Oil level should be in between the 2 bends as you already suggested.
