Featured Replies

Hi,I have a Octavia 1.8 20v 1999 which as just been for the yearly MOT. In the past its emission test as been no problem but this time its reading High on tickover. A few monthes ago the car kept cutting out so the garage fitted a Ignition unit and a Air Meter unit costing

This may sound odd, but if the idle is only slightly rough have you h ad the cambelt changed on the car ever?

IIRC it is 60k miles or 4 years, whichever is sooner.

Also have you had the fault codes read from the system?

I'm sure other people with more knowledge of the engine will be along soon :)

Try giving the throttle body a clean there's a thread on here somewhere have a search in the octavia section it's there somewhere

Dirty Fuel filter?

Or I missed the blinder of coil packs, plus check the condition of sparks and associated wiring.

the chances are thet they disconnected the throttle body.... which needs to be reset afterwards...

it's a simple 5 miniute task for sombody with vag-com
