Central locking woes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm at my wits end with my central locking!

I've had an intermittent fault on one of the rear doors for ages now. Sometimes it locks, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes the deadlock gets stuck on, sometimes not.

After reading around a bit I decided that it might be the latch, so tried replacing it with no luck. I then tried a mobile auto electrics guy who poked around and suggested the window motor. Tried a replacement - no luck again (although he said it might have be 'coded' - was this a load of rubbish?).

I've disconnected the loom altogether now and I'm opening it manually with the interior handle, which is a pain. Everything suggests a loose wire somewhere, but looking at the in-door connector etc all appears well.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions!

Thanks

James

Have a look in the boot for the control module, nearside.

Often gets wet when the washer pipe comes apart.

Hi

Thanks for this. Whereabouts is it, is it somewhere near the boot latch? I had a look under the fabric on the nearside but couldn't see anything obvious.

Ages ago when the car was nearly new the washer pipe leaked spectacularly into the boot lock and I had weird locking problems for a few days - but nothing since until now.

Thanks again

James

I think it's near the wheel arch.
