06 vRS better than 04 vRS

Featured Replies

Has anyone else changed from a 04 era Fabia vRS to a newer 06 (or later) and noticed how much better performance it has than an 04 era? Mine is much quicker with more pull and general grunt to overtake.

Is there really that much difference between the model years and the engines/turbos etc they fit?

04 plate was 'old style' rear lamps, 06 is 'new style' can't believe it comes from that ;) also newer car has cruise and xenons over the old, but again nothing to suggest this would give better performance...

I would have thought they would be about the same.

you may be noticing better pull in 4th,5th.6th, due to the shorter gear ratio's.. different box after '05..... engine/power is the same....

Ah, hmm possible, but I think my 04 had a newer gearbox ratio - I know the 04 was different to the 03 vRS I originally test drove at the dealers, much higher revs on dual carridgeway.

I believe they changed in 04 onwards.

Theres no stutter in a Pre 2006 model!!!

The mrs has just bought an 05 plate vRS...... Totally standard engine wise but we both notice a big difference between the pull in my 06 plate car and her 05 plate...... Now, i have fitted the Cupra intake and a green air filter, but i'm rather surprised that's what causing such a big difference.

Anyway we'll see if they match up again when hers gets the cupra intake and a new air filter.......

Cheers

Dave.

my brothers Ibiza Fr Blt engine same as 06 vrs feels faster thro the gears than my 04 plate vrs, but when you actually race them side by side (york) there is nothing in it :D

There doesn't have to be in a 06. Eveyone just needs to learn how to use their gas pedal foot to get the most out of it ;)

This stutter is in everyone's head. Tested 3 06 cars. None of 'em' had it! :D

Being in a three Fabia vRS family (2 '04 and my '06) I would say that only differences I have noticed (excluding cosmetic changes) are the '04s appear to ride harder which can possibly attributed to the Michelins on both the '04s and Contis on my '06.

Also my Dad's '04 vRS is noticeably more powerful than my brothers '04 or my '06.

Which I would put down to standard variations in the manufacture of the engines. i.e. One car magazine when they the tested a 2.0tdi Golf found it had 156Bhp as opposed to the quoted 138Bhp.

I'm sure you said to me once "if you havn't lived with a car don't make comment on it" (although I had lived with the car I commented on)

oh well c'est la vie :D

the BLT engine does have a stutter and can be driven around, oh and I drive one

And as I have lived with one. For 10 months..... I can comment on it. ;)

Once again, the two I test drove, didn't have the stutter, nor did the one I own.

So, clearly not every BLT engine has it.
