Compatible mobiles ?

Featured Replies

Hi I'm very new to all this and rubbish at typing too so apoligies in advance for typos....

I'm looking at getting a new mobile phone and can't find a list of ones that will fit into the craddle on the dashboard.

My car is a 2007 L&K TDI DSG.

Thanks in anticapation :)

Each cradle will only fit the respective phones.

This is selected when you order the kit from the dealer, although prob better to get a Nokia or Parrot kit and use Bluetooth

Thanks for the quick reply.

Oh, the cradle was already in the car when I bought it (French spec), I'd better phone the dealer....

Hi

How will you phone the dealer if the cradle wont work?

I have the built in phone system and am currently using a Nokia 6230i - and it works really well.

My other phone is a Nokia N73 - but according to our local VW dealer (we dont have a Skoda dealer nearby!) - they dont yet do a cradle for the Nokia N - series phones.

I think that my phone will be worn out before they do a cradle for it!

I therefore use a Sony bluetooth unit that clips onto the sunvisor - when i want to use the N73 in the car.

Cheers

Thanks Steve

Thats great - I'm looking at getting a Nokia as my current phone is dying.

It's just been a bit difficult trying to pinpoint exactly which models are supported by the Skoda built in thingy !

Park your car outside the phone shop, and ask them to supply a phone for the holder.

Thanks Mike

Now that is a great plan!

Excellent

Thanks Swing - I can now see that I was messing up my terminology; and the part that I need is called a cradle (as well as a phone), to fit onto the "stalk" !!!

The range of supported phones for the built in kits is quite limited and it's mainly the older phones. 6230 Nokia is probably one of the newest.

Unfortunately, billybrown, this cradle stuff it's a f...... joke. Only very old phones are supported, if you need to buy a new one you're screwed and have the dashboard of your car perpetually ruined by a useless item.

Indeed, I would ignore the stalk bit coming out of the dash, and just buy a Bluetooth car kit, which will allow you to use pretty much any phone on the market yet...

Hi

As stated in my earlier post - I am still waiting for the N73 to be supported with a suitable cradle.

I think the cradle manufacturer is missing a big trick here - as they could easily design a bluetooth cradle - that would simply work with any bluetooth phone - you would then only lose the ability to charge the phone on the cradle - which is no big hardship!

At least this way - you would still get the sound over the car speakers and the auto-muting of the car stereo when using the phone.

Perhaps the above is a bit too obvious!

Cheers

Steve
