Weitec suspension

Featured Replies

Are any of you familiar with a German suspension company called Weitec?

I had them advised to me with regards to my plans to further firm up and lower the suspension of the 4x4. They have fixed ("GT") and adjustable ("TX") dampers ("Ultra") and coilovers ("Hicon") for very reasonable prices, for both the regular Octavia (including the RS) and the 4x4 ("Allrad"). Oh, and the Fabia and Superb too, of course...

This is the link to their online shop:

But are they any good?

Sorry, never heard of them so cant help

the name is familar, but cant recall hearing anything about em... sorry

I now gather it's a bit of a "B" brand - hence the very reasonable prices...

Looking at Bilstein B8 Sprint shocks now or - if I manage to get the MAD springs sold - KW V1 or V2.

Can't tell you much about them but I have a front lower strut brace fitted to my Octavia vRS which is made by Weitec and supplied by Eric at AAT. Tel 01543 683051. Maybe he can help you.

Thanks Andrew, but I don't think I'll be calling long-distance just to find out. :D

I've spoken to a renowned motorsport supplier here in Holland (probably comparable with AAT) and he is a Weitec supplier too. He told me their dampers were OK'ish but not on a par with Bilstein or KW, hence its cheap price.

Interestingly, for those bashing Koni and loving KW - the KW damper is in fact made by Koni...

I think this is true for KW2 but not KW3.

Dutch, what sort of price (euros) is your guy putting on the bilsteins if ye dont mind askin?

Yes, you're right, Adrian - KW V2.

About 600 euros (190 a piece for the fronts, 110 a piece for the rears).

But mind you, he still has to find out whether they fit the 4x4 or have specially adapted ones, etc. They're a certain fit for FWD Golf IV-based cars, of course.

Hence my interest in the Weitecs, as they have a special "Allrad" series. The Weitec dampers will be 300 euros (fixed) or 400 (adjustable), and their coilovers come at 730 euros, all prices taken from their website.

KW V1 lists at approx. 800 euros, V2 at 1000 euros and V3 at 1200 euros, all incl. VAT.

The Weitec prices are retail prices, the Bilstein and KW prices include fitting.

Hope this helps...

Edit: all from the top of my head, so I may be mixing up some prices! Have all the correct figures at home...

Cool, thanks ;)

Well, proved to be right. The Bilstein and Weitec prices are correct but I got the KW prices slightly wrong.

These should be 1010 euros for V1, 1200 euros for V2 and excruciatingly expensive for V3... :D (The amount was so much that I didn't even consider writing it down.)

So hoping for the Bilsteins to do the trick.

We also supply Weitec and would put them at the budget end of the market, their quality has definately improved and we have plenty of Polo customers using them but we always say that they're a budget brand.

KW, Bilstein, H&R are always worth the extra money ;)

The problem with suspension is that its like a woman... everyone likes a different setup... what works for one does not work for another... and if you get the wrong one it will cos you even more money to change it.:D

I understand suspension is easier to change though.......

and theres more chance of the dampers blowing.....
