VRS aircon - only cold or hot!

Featured Replies

With the temperature dial set at most cold position I get a very nice stream of chilled air coming into the cabin. However if I move the temp dial up just one notch the air temperature changes to what is often too warm! Therefore I seem to spend my time constantly moving it between these two positions!! Has anyone else noticed this? Or is mine faulty?

Sounds like it may be faulty. Potentially problems with the flaps governing cold/hot air mix? Worth getting VAG-COM hooked up to see if anything has been logged :D

My PD100 had a faulty flap motor - the one that moves the temperature flap. It could get quite random at times (eg. hot air when control was set to cold). I suspect it was wrong for ages (maybe from new).

I am doing exactly the same, constantly going between the 2 positions as its always to hot or too cold.

Really annoying. Has the car got some sort of cheap climate control as the dial has the temperature in degrees on it. Is this causing the air to come out warmer if its cold outside to maintain the set temp?

You can reset the flap motor via a VAG COM

VAG-COM for the reset is:

08 Heater/A.C

04 Basic settings

Channel 000

001

002

When it goes into a channel let it run until the numbers stop moving. The numbers mean the flap is moving from one stop to the other. Should at the end read 0. Then clear any fault codes.

Didnt work on mine though, flap motor was FUBAR so had to have a new one installed.
