Mintex Extreme Brake pads

Featured Replies

Having not had a lot of luck with Green or Red stuff in conjunction with my 312 C/D Zimmermans (Both sets broke up after a bit of track use and were both useless on the road) I decided to take some advice I had from a policemen friend of mine who told me that all the traffic cars (The Volvos, Mercs, Lexus etc) going out of the maintainance unit were being fitted with the new Mintex Extreme pads.

Well if they use them then they can't be that bad...

Ordered them from Motorsport World - Performance Car Parts and was really surprised as with postage they only cost

I'm glad you posted this as I'll be needing new brakes in the next couple of months. Was thinking of either the Mintex or Tarox Strada pads combined with Zimmerman discs. From what you say the Zimmerman/Mintex set up sounds pretty good.

Have you had any problems with cracking on the drilled discs?

None, they have done 40k and three track days too.

Thanks for that Decron. Looks like it'll be X-drilled Zimmerman on the front, standard on the back and Mintex Extreme pads all round then.

ZeroSixty and the Mintex extreams are available from Awesome GTi but I am sure if you talk nicely to Sarah , she will look after you Al

There are a few on here that have had them , due to her sales technique

Sarah has this habit of emptying my wallet on a regular basis. She does make a good brew though.:D

Already priced the Zero Sixty's and it comes to

After 72 laps (Yeah, I wanted my money's worth!) of the track at Hullavington I can honestly say these pads are supreme.

I did a 16 lap stint and I really wasn't hanging around for any of them and they took everything I threw at them. As I have mentioned they do seems to produce a bit more dust than standard but I cannot emphasise the actual brake ability of these pads.

The have coped well with the heat (The discs have gone blue BTW  ) and they are just as sharp as they ever were.

Do yourselves a favour and replace your standard pads with these. They will only be a few quid extra for a truely awesome product!

and I really wasn't hanging around for any of them

Not at all :finger:

I'll take my seats out next time. :)

After the little Prague escapade and Mimon airfield, I need some new pads. I phoned up Motorsport world and the chap claimed the DS2500 were better than Mintex extreme (but he probably would say that as the Ferodos are 2.5 times the price)!

But, I'm not sure whether Mintex make a pad for 323mm Brembo GT fitment. Looking up various motorsport retailers websites, when I go to Seat Leon Cupra R which I believe comes with the 323mm brembo fitment from factory, Mintext doesn't seem an option. Now whether that's because they don't stock them or Mintex doesn't make them, I don't know.

I'd happily try these pads if I could get hold of them. Having experienced DS2500 stopping power, I don't really want to go elsewhere (after having horrible experiences with EBC stuff)...

Anyone know?

DS2500 every time for me, they arent cheap but you get what you pay for

Hi

Yes there is one for the Brembo 323`s we reccomend these even though DS2500`s are good

I know what you mean, Stuart. After my EBC experience (no brakes at third roundabout of ring road when driving enthusiastically  ), I'm well aware of the differences between pads. However, Decron really rates these, and although he hasn't tried DS2500, he's had bad experiences with EBC and his recent track day with these on suggests that they don't fade when hot as the EBCs do...

I have had a set of Mintex brake pads and disks fitted all round. The fronts being extreme ones.

As Decron say's, they are amazing. MUCH better than the standard pads, very progressive and responsive. Seem to stop the car very well.

Only cost me

Have been using the Mintex Extremes for a few thousand miles now. They are very good across all useage, not too hard to work cold and not too soft to work when the going gets really tough. They are fade free and very progressive. Will use them again.
