Time to change as my Octy 2..0 FSI Elegence has reached 75000 and my lease is 90,000 and penaltys are 15p per mile. with current mileage at 4k per month i need to think about the next motor in my life.

Thoughts on my 2 years with the Octy

Now restricted to 169g maximum emissions so if i want any half decent performance i must join the Oil burning fraternity

So my dilemma is, do I venture away from Skodaville and chance my arm on the dark Side I'm very smitten with the Croma, but like all things Italian great when young but everything go's south black and dowdy after a few years.

One last question if i decided on a 1.9 fully loaded L+K. would i miss the relative oomph I currently have?

I would go for the 1.9 l&k and get a tunig box to give you the power the VRS has. If chosen carefully, they can be removed without trace in no time at all for servicing.

I have an l&k and wouldn't consider anything else, it's just too good!

Besides, audis are just skodas with a higher price tag in my opinion. Also my friend has both a fully loaded A6 and an Octavia l&k and guess which he prefers?

Methinks you would need the 2.0TDI to reach vRS territory (1.9TDI = 105BHP, 2.0TDI = 140BHP)

A 2.0 TDI L&K would be the one to go for as it sneaks in under the CO2 limit you have. Try and get a 140TDI for a test drive and you'll see it has enough grunt in normal tune.

I would get the L&K 1.9 as the engine has had many years of development.

Would not go down the mapping route due to warranty/insurance issues

Why can't you choose the Octy vRS TDi?

The new brochure show that the emissions have improved yet again (probably due to better ECU programming), and are now shown as 151 g/km.

Failing that, it would have to be the Octy 2.0TDi L+K, which also comes in under your max. CO2 figure.

I know that the 2.0TDi has been problematic in the Superb, but this is because of the poor positioning of the DPF. The Superb also uses an older 8v version, whereas the Octy gets the new 16v 2.0 ltr.

I'm currently driving a 1.9TDi 130 Superb, and have to say that the 2.0TDi 140 is a significant improvement, both in terms of performance and refinement.

Capped at price I.m afraid.Office Jockeys at my grade have the vrs as an option on a 4 year 50k lease. Us guys on the rd have a 3 year 90k lease and the vrs only shows at the next grade up on a 3yr lease.

Best option for me at present is 2.0 pd sport or a elegence.

I could top up to DSG models using my own money. but don't feel inclined as the tax implications are so complicated.

would opt for the Elegance over the sport because you get more toys,you can always add sports suspension and 17" alloys if money allows.
