Felicia problem

Featured Replies

Greetings

I have just bought my first Skoda a 1998 Felicia estate. It has a problem with the revs not always dropping back to the 1000 and sticking at 2000. The man under the arches was unable to find out what was wrong and said I should take it to a man with electronic testing equipment. He cleared away the error codes but the problem presisted. He concluded it was the brake servo.

Does the community have any experience of this problem?

I am sorry if this is an inappropriates request or formum but I have just joined and don't know any better

Andy

Welcome to Briskoda, Andy. :D You have posted in the correct place for a first post but I will move your query to the Felicia forum where it will hopefully attract the right attention.

I have had a similar problem with my Felicia 1.6 which was cured by throttle adaptation, ie resetting the throttle with diagnostic equipment.

that problem could be caused by the brake servo.

there is a little non-return valve bewteen the intake manifold and the brake servo vacuum resovoir. if the non-return valve stops working or there is a split in the pipes it allows air to bypass the throttle body and increase the idle speed

i have had a similar problem, sometimes my 1.3mpi will rev a little high for a while before returning to normal.

Other times i will be sat at lights and the revs will begin to waver, from about 900 to 500 and just fluctuate almost to the point where it is about to stall.

I also have a bit of a rough idle, its never idles smoothly and it seems to be worse at running temp.

Do you reckon this brake servo malarky could be my problem as well?

i doubt it... that sounds like a case of a dirty or mal-adjusted throttle body

well i would have to say mal-adjusted as I cleaned it not so long ago
