Remove phone holder?

Featured Replies

I just got my RS today (finaly!!).

I had the bluetooth option, and found there is a ugly phone holder mounted.

I don't need it because the reason for me to take bluetooth is that i do not have to take my phone(in fact it's a pda) out of my pocket.

Anybody tried to remove this phone holder?

How did you do it and does it leaves any marks (holes) in the dash??

I don't think it'll leave you any holes.

 Seems complicated (have two left hands) but will give it a try!!

Thnx

If you remove the phone holder completely, you will find there is a small gap in the dash surround where the bracket (and cables) were... to get rid of these you will need a new standard dash surround.

Yes. A part number of a frame around head unit for phone kit is different than without. You will need new frame, it is about 17 GBP

Figured out i needed that and seems to me also a other strip above the gluve compartment?

Before getting rid of it, is there somewhere a list of available phone adpaters?

Eventually got the phone holder removed....

Also ordered a new frame for the phone and a new strip for passenger side...(around 15€ each...)

Also got Bluetooth PDA working without cutting out too mutch...just don't put pda into power saving mode and it works fine. Drains the battery but that's not a big problem, as i charge it in the office and at home (maybe for some long journey's it could be a problem...)

Still going to try another pda, because my boss had the same problem with his hp ipaq pda, changed it to another (qtec one) and does not have any problems. will borrow his, and see....
