Good car - one minor gripe.

Featured Replies

I've just bought a Fabia VRs SE which overall I'm pretty pleased with.

Its nippy not too flash and feels like its built well.

One minor gripe, why did they put the cigarette lighter next to the hand brake instead on in the dash ? I've spent 3 months loading tracks onto an MP3 player that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket and now find it won't fit in the new car because it too close to the handbrake.

Ahh well, back to those old fashioned flat round silvery things I guess

All VAG cars have the socket by the handbrake, my old octy mk1 and the current mk2 included. What you can do is what I did with the mk1, buy a single to 3 adaptor from halfords and mount that on the side of the dash using velcro.

I've done something similar with my car and posted a pic of it recently - its a Mk II Octy but you will see what Manny means.

See post #8 in http://www.briskoda.net/forums/fabia/someone-lent-me-their-satnav/80000/

On the MK5 Golf they moved it back up front. But it is now designated a 12v socket and has a higher amperage fuse and cabling suitable for accessories.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try Halfords (can't believe I said that  , I might try online first)
