Ant is correct, the original CD changer cannot be used with the Alpine unit but with access to a iPod it's not really needed other than if I've just bought a new CD and not transferred it.

I;m interested in this unit but a little confused at what the alpine site says re its connectivity to ipods. The site seems to insinuate that the usb connection is the 'optimum' connection but I've never seen an ipod with a usb connection. It also speaks of a 'fullspeed' connection but you apparently can't do the alphabet search. Is that right?

I have a 3rd gen ipod with a dock connection on the bottom. I just presumed it would connect through that. Does anyone know if that will suffice?

im considering upgrading my head unit on the octy vRS, the only question i have is, most HUs support 4x speaker output where the octy vRS has an 8 speaker surround sound system as standard. will this mean a new HU will only use 4 of the existing 8 speakers?

I think you'll find it's the other end of the lead that's a USB connection! You've got your iPod dock fitting on one end of the lead with a USB/mini USB on the other end, going into the head unit.

I think they will all work still. The tweeters are spurred off from the mids sort of thing, like a crossover.

would one of you good people be kind enough to tell me what wiring adaptor i will need to connect on of these HU's straight into a fabia.

Had a quick search but can't seem to find any info.

Many thanks

Mark

I don't think you need an adaptor. The standard loom has an ISO connector on it. You just need to swap the permanent and switched lives round. I think....

can someone please tell me what wiring adaptor i will need to install one of these and where i can get one.

Would Halfrauds doo one?

Thanks

Mark
