Skoda Rapid 136

Featured Replies

Have been wanting a rapid since reading about them in Aus. Recently got the opportunity to buy one, though I knew there was a small problem with the transmission, I was prepared to treat it gently and get it fixed asap.

Unfortunately for me, the drive home after purchace proved to much for it, and not only did I loose all gears, but now the engine wont idle, only stalls. I fear I have wasted my money on a car with major problems, rather than a car with an issue to sort.

Any advice?

Tyson

Welcome. The first (and only) advice I can offer you is not to ask the same question in 3 seperate threads.

Hello and welcome

Not sure what advice you are looking for to be honest. I guess you didn't have it checked out beforehand and I guess you haven't bought it with a warranty. My advice would be to take the car to a reputable garage for an overall assessment since it might be something easily fixed or maybe you've bought a "lemon" (as we say) and if so I guess you'll know better for the next time you buy a car.

Sorry not much help but I'm not a car person either so have to rely on the advice of others, which perhaps should be more than what a vendor says.

Welcome ...

Are you still in Australia?

My initial thoughts are gear linkage & carburettor,

but I'm no expert ....

I'd suggest you send a PM to DaveRapid.

He knows more about rear engine cars than most people.

He's working on my 1972 Combi at the moment

(yeah I know that's front engined)....
