Help! Octavia TDi problem!

Featured Replies

Currently in Germany for CeBit Exhibition Hannover.

Whilst on autobahn, flat out at 195kph (GPS speedo!), speed increased to 200kph max, then lost power and felt like an SDi

I thought the turbo had gone, but in the evening, re-started the car and it is back to normal!

Any ideas please - has been Jabba re-mapped!

Thanks,

John.

would sound like some sort of overboost cut out? did it throw any codes? (assuming someone has a vagcom?)

wish i was at Ce-bit.... i was too busy to go....

I've had the same Jon - I think its an overboost kill switch. I maxxed out the Fabia post remap to about 125mph and I had the same. If you feel safe, just slow down to 80ish, kill the engine, restart and turbo should be back live. My chipped ECU also had the fault logged, so yours should too.

A little annoying when it happens though!

Thanks for the info chaps,

It was a bit worrying to think that the turbo had blown this far from home!

Can't be much fun driving an SDi!!

John.

Oh you'd be surprised how much fun you can have with a "SDI". ;)

Apologies to the driver of the Octy Estate with a red I on his badge :D

Try having the turbo cut out under only the slightest acceleration... I'm just glad the problem was cured by the new turbo. When I overboosted the turbo on my top-end attempt before, it never re-occurred, so I'm assuming that was a one-off... and a one-off which may get repeated in the new car at Brunters....

The benefits of having no turbo :D

Are you trying to say that they fitted a turbo to yours by mistake, O Invisible One?
