engine management light

Featured Replies

Hi All

Not been on for a while, but have a small problem with my 4x4 1.8t octavia.

I was in scotland this week and for no reason the engine management light came

on, as i was in the middle of no ware i had to keep driving, there is nothing wrong with the car as far as driving, and it made it back fine today.

I spoke to Awesome GTI in the week and they said to check the rear lights, Now i know that the drivers side break light is a bit tempramental, but that has been like that for about six months, (if you take the cluster out the bulb works, when you clip it back in, it don't) But even messing around with this it made no difference.

Any Ideas

Anything dodgy with the brake lights if anything will also bring the EPC light on. It really needs the fault codes reading, unless it is obvious like a temperature gauge behaving erratically (temperature sensor) or a loud hiss of an air leak from within the engine bay.

Thanks, but there is nothing obvious. and like i said the light has been intermitent for a while, so why go now and for no reason, will have to get booked in

Check the cluster Earth, and that the stop/tail bulbholder is fully home in its mounting then. ISTR hearing of something similar with V@*xh@!!$, and the cause was that the stop/tail bulbholders left the bulbs slightly loose and rattly (which also gave the cars a considerable bulb consumption).
