Steering wheel shuddwe not balancing?

Featured Replies

I have a shuddering coming through the steering wheel when i accelorate in 5th from 60- 80, dropped it in to 4th and the shuddering was reduced slightly but not stopped. Thought this may be an issue with wrong gear acceloration but dont think this is the case.

Had balancing done twice 2-3 months ago, not hit any pot holes or curbs...any ideas?

Anyu one else had a similar issue?

Cheers guys.

A few suggestions

I see you have aftermarket wheels fitted do they use hub spacers? The wheels may not be seated against the hub correctly.

or some other ideas

chucked a balance weight.

Tyre out of shape/uneven tread ware

faulty shockabsorber

these can all give you the fault you have hope it helps

Re balance the wheels again.

ive had that problem before when some of the chimps in the tyre place dont balance them properly.

I had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago- lost a wheel balancing weight. Tyre fitters rebalanced for free.

vibration when accelerating = DMF vibration caused by the torque of the engine

this will be especially so when the car is remapped as yours seems to be (185bhp) i.e. it will have more torque

the other thing that could be causing a vibration is a driveshaft with some play , used to get Ford Escorts at work which would shake through the car until we replaced the inner C.V. joints
