xbox 360 - possible buy

Featured Replies

Are they rechargable?? normal or MS specifically rechargable.

Two AA batteries - you can either use non-rechargeable, rechargeable, or you can get a MS Recharging pack thingy, which I think allows you to charge and play at the same time...

Rob.

... Im surprised at this why on earth would anyone want to help subsidise M Soft who are selling a product with a common fault and your solution is when it goes just buy another "Its only 149"... come off it 149 to replace something which should easily have a 5+ year life is a joke.

To many people thats a lot of money basically p*ssed down the drain - I'd rather buy one that works and give that cash to Christian Aid.

i would rather set fire to the cash than give it to any corrupt charity (it is my opinion only and not that of briskoda that most charities are corrupt). :P

but i suppose you wouldnt like it cos bmw dont make it. ;)

as for 5 year life - never owned a pc or console that gave 5 years life - or a car for that matter, or a woman come to think of it.

You should be carefull about posting views which may be unfounded on any forum - you never know who may use it against you.... (I know someone who lost their job because of some stupid comment they made on a site - not sure he even belived what he typed....) I dont care about you or anyone elses view on charity donations its up to you if you do give time and/or

Astonishingly I'm with Welshy on this one  I'd expect any console to last 5 years, though obviously controllers are a different matter. I've never had a console or PC fail on me within such a period either.

I too have a C64 in good working order and an N64 which also works perfectly.

Ive been looking at the PS3 and now prices are

but the developers still have to make 5 times more content :)

which they won't

the ps3 only has a 1 year warranty as far as i know as i was told this by sony after mines failed 1 day after launch also if you dont use a genuine sony hdmi cable this also invalidates the warranty many people in usa found this out after the console failed

The wii looks like good fun, but possibly only when you are drunk and I am sure the novelty will wear off.

The novelty has not worn off yet in our household, it really is a big slice of family fun.

Re the PS3 comments - The PS3 is going to be great when there are more games around, and whilst it's expensive, you are getting a Blu-Ray player in that as well.

If you looked at a 360 premium, added the external HD-DVD player you would not be to far off the price of a PS3, and you would have bought a HD player that looks suspiciously like it's going to lose the HD battle with Blu-Ray imho.

Oh, I have a Wii and a 360 btw, the 360 has been relegated to the conservatory and the Wii promoted to the living room, however I bought Colin McRae DIRT at the weekend and tha't a lot of fun, but seeing the other thread about Forza I can't help thinking I bought the "wrong" driving game

as far as I can see, history is repeating (as I've said before)

Sony won't allow porn on blu-ray, which is what killed Betamax...

I think your b arking up the wrong tree with that one. Anyone who want's porn these days will get it from the net, and not go looking for hardcore HD-DVD's.

Blu-Ray is probably going to win the battle because of the massive studio support, and now Disney are on board with blu-ray so you will never get thing's like Pirates of the caribbean and the Pixar stuff like cars, toy story etc etc on hd-dvd.

Back on topic, My 360 has not broken down yet, I have an external fan which I got from Roo, popped a bit of lube on the fans and they are now fairly quiet, but never had any major problems other than having to clear out the disk cache to stop the random lockups after several month of use.

I have to come clean, I have got a PS3 as well, well I don't but my company purchased a blu-ray presentation device you see, and I think it's pretty much as good as it get's, motorstorm is awesome and when the developers start getting games out it will be a great thing.

As I am in a privelidged position where I have the use of a 360,ps3 and Wii at home, out of the 3, it's still the Wii that get's the most use, it get's switched on every day and used, and one of the biggest games is still good old wii sports and it's just good clean family fun on a wet and rainy day :)

I think the mrs is most up for the Wii as she sees some fitness benefit over just sitting down playing xbox360. Clearly the 360 has much more full on games than the Wii which can take weeks to get good enough to be able to play well, while the Wii anyone (even disabled/severly disabled) can pick up a controller and have a fiar punt at it.

Just saying that the majority of DVD releases each year are from porn studios.

Also, Toshiba have licensed companies to make cheap HD-DVD players, which Sony have not.

yep, this is true, but whilst we are off topic, what good is a cheap HD-DVD player if you have got nothing to watch on it, or are we suggesting that people will be buying them just to have a good tug (or strum) to :D

This p*&n is totally off topic.

FYI the BBC still to this day (well I had a tour about 10 -15 years ago so up to then) use Betamax as the quality is much better than VHS.

They said the real reason why betamax failed in the public arena was down to the physical size of the casette.

Anyway back toi PS3 vs Xbox360 vs Wii.

I have just spent 30 mins or so down PC world trying out Forza 2 on the xbox360 with a nice Sony Bravia 37inch HD TV. To say it is a big step from Froza 1 is an understatement, graphics were fantastic handling was better too.

I also had a go on the PS3 F1 - now either that game just has poor graphics and its all in the game play (pretty average on that fron too) but I was very disappointed with it.

There was no Wii to try out.

So on the basis of 1 game on each console the Xbox360 wins hands down.

Can anyone who has played Forza2 & Gears of War please give me an honest (not biased) view on the graphics - are they to that level way beyond or worse.

Also can those with the PS3 please which is the best game to date so that I can test run it.

Anyone know if Blockbuster do hiring of a console + a game for a few days? That way I can really test out all 3 properly and make a decision based upon that.

For the PS3, the best game at the moment IMHO is Motorstorm, arcade style driving game, based in monument valley california, with Buggy's, Trucks, Bikes, Quads, Big Rigs and an awesome soundtrack.......

With all the ravings about forza, I can see me being at Game tomorrow night returning Colin McRae DIRT and getting Forza.

I think Forza2 will have a much longer playing life over Colin McRae Dirt - just like all the older rally games fun but very non multiplayer really.

When is the next TOCA coming out? I loved the V8 series and played that the most online
