For Dam's benefit, yes the VED is quite high relative to the car's performance for 2001-on models, but the overall running costs are greatly reduced by the lack of a timing belt, and general toughness of the Fred Flintstone-era engine (head gasket issues aside - but they should have either happened or been changed under warranty if you're buying one now, anyway!)

So it's swings and roundabouts! I'm sure you'll be very happy with the car, even if the number written on the little disc stuck to your windscreen is higher than you'd like!

didn't think mine was a thirsty engine at all seems to cost about a pound a mile which im my opinion is good.
