Front Seat Belt

Featured Replies

Has any one had problems with their seat belts fitted on the Octy jamming even on a level surface? My drivers belt often locks, and i have to lower the height adjuster to free it off...........any ideas? or just take it back under warranty.

Unless it's something really simple, I'd take it back. After all airbags and seatbelts can save yur life so they've not recomended for messing about with.

Phil,

Take the trim panel off and check that it has been located correctly when it was bolted onto the post. If the angle is not right the mechanism will lock. (My Dad has a Focus and one of the rear belts would lock up - the reel had not been located correctly when the car was built). It may be worth loosening the fixing bolt and seeing it is possible to move the reel slightly.

As Colin says if the car is under warranty get the dealer to sort it out.

My passenger one does this occasionally.

I intend to get the dealer to sort it at the 20k service

This used to happen with my 1.6 Ambiente only on the passenger side, and it would lock in the resting position. My passengers would complain that they couldn't pull out the seatbelt. Usually it would unlock itself after driving a short distance down the road, or if you released the seatbelt height adjuster and give it some slack.

I complained to dealer, they ordered a new seatbelt and installed it under warranty and hasn't happened since.

I have complete sets of front & rear seat belts if anyone ever needs one. ;)

Indeed, at least the driver's one was. ;)

Fully tested
If advertising on eBay, it would be sound better to say: Fully serviceable when tested recently.

PS Get a move on, Jason!
