Red Dot Racing

Hi all. Picked up my new SE a week ago. Very pleased with it generally. Love the MPG! Was getting around 20 with my last couple of cars so it feels great looking at the trip computer for a change. Afraid I've got it though! The stutter that is. Reading about it I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones who escaped it but it was not to be. 1700 rpm, there it is.

Got it booked in for a custom remap at Red Dot Racing on 21 July when I should have about 1000 miles on it. They are doing a special offer on ebay for

I've not heard of Red Dot Racing and IMHO I would steer clear of the lesser known companies that advertise on eBay. I would much rather entrust my car to a tuner who had a good reputation (not to say RDR don't) and pay the extra

Red Dot Racing are a pretty big company I think but they operate in a franchise way IIRC.

There used to be a guy on eBay that would sell you the kit to set up yourself.

Only major draw back, is your car being so new, you are voiding your warranty to some engine parts having it done.

Wondered about that. But supposing there was a 'warranty' fault, do they look to see if it's remapped or modded first, or is it something that is obvious to the dealers? I was under the impression that it was difficult to detect.

I mainly wanted to ask, though, if there are any 'regular' drawbacks that come with remapping or is it generally a problem free process?

Also is it true about it regularly helping with the 'stutter' problem? I've only done 200 miles in it and it's already starting to bug me. I'm hesitant to take it back to the dealers (Claybanks, Manchester) in case they say they know nothing about it or say they can't find a fault. That would REALLY p*ss me off (I'm easily frustrated!)

Which parts would you be voiding the warranty on?

Any part that may have been affected by the remap.

suggest a search on this one. It's discussed quite a lot...

And its easy enough to check.
