Where is me car?

Featured Replies

Due to get my vRS soon.

I was told by the dealer it has arrived in the UK around about 12th. There were some problems with it being consigned due to it being a custom build meaning that had to be done manually.

Chased yesterday and was told that they were waiting on a fax to arrive to tell them when it would be transported up and it should be in around the 20th.

Phoned them back today and apparently the transport company has no idea about the car and Skoda UK are doing a 'manual check off'. I guess that means that they are wandering about the port looking for it :(

Probably nothing but frustrating all the same when it's so close. Bit of pain for getting the insurance changed over too with no dates.

surely you can get insurance quotes as most are valid for 30days, or if you are staying with the same company they can change the details within the hour

Why don't you use Skoda's free 7 day insurance?

Then you can change over at your leisure (well within the 7 days)

My advice would be to check the car very carefully when you collect it. Look for damage and more importantly look for signs of repaired damage such as overspray, dodgy panel gaps and different shades of paint. I've heard of cars being damaged in transit and repaired before the owner even knows. The amount of time that has passed since the car arrived in the UK makes me very suspicious that something isn't right and the reasons given for delay such as it being a custom build just sound like excuses.

Yes I can get quotes but actually getting the cover note can take 5 days. I'm not good at waiting to get things sorted and I think I'll have a bit of arguing to do with my current insurer (post office). Got a quote from them for

Any hints on how to spot damage in the middle of a panel i.e. no over spray. Or properly repaired damage.

Just had word on My Vrs estate that I ordered a few weeks back, there are 28 Vrs's being held at a port down south somewhere due to the fact that the Skoda factory installed the wrong radio's into them.

They are due to be replaced over the weekend and should be shipped to dealers from Monday.

What other radio options are there though? I thought it was the 'Stream' radio or satnav.

If they've stuck satnav in by accident, well it's terrible they got the wrong spec wrong but I'll just have to take it I suppose.

They'd better not scratch the dash, the other half's car got quite a few bad scratches when Vauxhall changed her radio.

Got a call back and the cars are back on the system now. No mention of the radios but the cars won't be at the dealer until Tuesday at the earliest for pickup on Wednesday. Fits in with ThePorteri's report. I guess maybe they did fit them with satnav by accident.

There is probably a crapulent Czech-only AM set with valves and a rotary tuning dial and no MP3 compatibility:

Alternatively, other countries like France have a different range for FM than our range (which were designed to avoid Police bands etc).

So be thankfull you will be able to pick up more than Edith Diaf and Charles Aznarvour

come to mention it, the dealer did say it was fitted with a euro radio, will be giving it a good inspection when I pick it now!!!!

I just love waiting :(

You might be waiting a few days longer :(

Dealer has phoned up and has a similar story to above about the radios.

He was told that the cars have been sent out without radios after something happened at the factory damaging a lot of them. Fabias are also affected.

There is a team on site changing/fitting radios over the weekend. 'Sold' cars are being sorted first (so there might be a lot more than 28 affected) and should be getting transported out on Monday with delivery about 3 working days after that.

So for me that probably means next Friday. Oh well at least the road tax will be for next month.
