How to drive with a Remap...??

Featured Replies

Hi All, this has prob been done before had a quick search to no avail.....

Anyway I'm in the mood for a remap but I'm unsure due to the fact that I hear you have to drive your Fab different once remapped!

Can someone provide a guide on what to do and not to do when its remapped

i.e. flooring it in hi gears etc.

I'm worried as I do not want to damage my pride and joy but I'm off to the ring next year and would like to try her round the ring with a remap.........

Sorry to go on but this is the first car which I have had which can be tuned easily........ You can't really get any more bhp from a 60s Punto.....

Thanks all.:)

Don't boot it from low revs (ie below 2k rpm). Not really any different to how you should drive it standard really ;)

Gentle on the throttle in 1st, a little more in 2nd, ditto 3rd (wheelspin is still bad in 3rd with mine when the revs hit 3k rpm, that's with a Quaife, decent tyres, and a hybrid turbo ;)) - 3rd gear in the dry generally means you can drop your foot pretty hard :D

Depending on what you are after, i.e. if you are just making decent progress or if you are caning it, just accelerate with a bit of 'feeding in' - if you start at 2k rpm, and feed the throttle in then by 2.5k rpm you will be nicely on full throttle. Change up at 3.5k-4.5k depending on mood/need, or if you fancy, 5k rpm (not the greatest plan when cold nor if you have the standard turbo as it just gets worked hard (too hard imho), with a hybrid it seems fine though :))

You'll work it out soon enough though in my experience, if you get your map changed you may have to find the sweet spots again. It sure puts a grin on your face though

With a standard clutch id only use the 2-2.5k rpm thats available after peak torque lol
