Engine management,Esp/ASR sensors

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm from Romania, and i do own a octavia 1.8 T4x4 2002 110 kw

The car has 150.000 km and for a wile a have some problems with it.

The engine management light appears from time to time and also the esp/asr lights also.I was at a local skoda branch garage and they said that they don't know what the issue might be.I have changed the temperature sensor and clear the sensor but those damn light keep appear.I am confused i real don't know what t do.As you see, i try to get an aswer from abroad although i realise that is quit difficult from some one to know what the problem might be, without seeing the readings from the vag-com.For once, the vag-com showed the error "sporadic longitudinal sensor error"

Please, i need your help, i'mthinking to sell this car for i've had enough with all this problems, but with those lights on i know i won't be able...

Thanks

Check the battery condition; I had a similar issue with ASR and ABS, and all it was was a flat battery.

Failing that, one of the inputs to an ESP system is from a sensor which measures how fast you're accelerating in the longitudinal axis (direction the car's pointing) which means that VAGCOM maybe is giving a sensible (to a native English speaker) error message about an intermittent fault in that sensor or its connectors. Which would mean finding someone who knows where that sensor is, and getting them to clean the contacts on its connectors, which may clear the fault, or at least confirm that it's the sensor itself.

Sounds like you need a new sensor and for it to be set up. The longitudinal sensor is one of four for the ESP system, iirc that one live to the side of the glovebox.

Cool link Denis (bookmarked ;))

Thats the sensor in its 4wd application, the same sensor is used along with....

Steering angle sensor

Yaw sensor
