Electric Windows Going Up By Themselves

Featured Replies

Hey

Found another quirky thing in the Octy vRS. Sometimes and only sometimes the windows go up by themselves when i switch off the car.

So who can explain to me in what cases does this happen?

What I am talking about it: I switch the engine off and all the electric windows activate and go up if they are down. This is without touching anything. It also works with the key fob but I just want to know why this happens only sometomes.

Suspect this could be the auto rain closing thingy. Perhaps, it's getting confused sometimes, and closing the windows because it thinks it's raining.

It's configurable from within the Maxi-dot, so you could try turning it off to see if it continues to happen.

yep, most times I turn the engine off, all of the window relays fire, clockwise around the car. Occasionally they don't though, so a bit confusing.

same thing happens to me - i would say about 25% of the time - its not always raining when it happens either!

Mine too!

I posted a similar thread a while back but never go to the bottom of when/why it decides to do it - I still can't figure out an particular pattern for it

Seems quote a useful feature but it's unpredictability is rather annoying

It's odd you should mention this, but I've heard similar sounds in my car, but have never had the windows wound down when removing the key.

In my car, I thought the noise was the central locking relays unlocking the doors, as I've got the security stuff switched on. The car locks when you go over 10mph, and then unlocks when you remove the key. Could this be the noise that you are hearing in your car?

tis definately the window relays. The locks all go at once, and then the relays go, in order, driver, rear rh passenger etc. Plus, the windows go up, if there down! Could it be part of the alarm system? Odd time to close everything, as it would have made more sence to do it when the car is locked.

Just tried this on mine, and it's definitely part of the rain closing system.

On mine, if I turn the rain closing off, then the windows stay down. If I turn it on, then they go up, but not always.

For me, they only seem to go up if I have used the window washers recently (this was part of my test). I'm guessing that tipping a glass of water over the sensor would achieve the same result.

It does seem to be somewhat unpredictable, though.
