engine oil top up's

Featured Replies

Still debating if to chose the Octavia 2.0L tdi pd 140 Hatchback as my next company car.

I was told by LLoyds TSB auto leasing this car uses oil and I would need to top it up often.

Im not sure what oil would be needed but the auto lease man said its exspensive.

He also said if on an incline at traffic lights dont hold the car on the clutch as it overheats and causes problems.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Steve.

Err correct on all parts.

Search on the site for your oil requirements.

To be fair, you shouldn't hold ANY car on the clutch when sitting on an incline

Does the Octavia have a specific overheating problem compared to other makes?

Why are you worried about the cost of oil for a company car?

Unfortunately oil and screen wash are items that cannot be claimed for, only business mileage is re-imbursed.

I dont make the rules.

Just keep fiddling the mileage then:D

I bought a TD 140PD from new and have only used about 1/3 litre in 6000 miles, so I'm guessing some cars are more thirsty than others. I do tend to drive fairly long drives rather than lots of small jouneys so that might help

Agree about not holding a manual with the clutch on a hill, but also with a DSG gearbox, if you release the brake enough for the clutch to engage and leave it like that on a hill, holding the car on the "creep", the clutch can auto-disengage to prevent overheating and you be off rolling backwards!
