Belkin dongle setup help

Featured Replies

I've swapped around towers twice already trying to get my new PC connected. :D I have one of these 7050 Belkin network adaptors. It reliably allows me to talk to my wanadoo router too. Trouble is, I've lost the setup CD, and even using the drivers off the Belkin site, it won't setup properly.

The new system sees it as a "Belkin 54g wireless adaptor" but it's got a yellow !! against it in device manager and I can't get it talking.

All this time means I'm not folding as I've stopped it and deleted it off my current older PC as I didn't think I'd be using it still....

The yellow in device manager means there is some kind of conflict with the device. Is there any more info if you double click the device? Is anything else using the same IRQ/memory range?

Nope. At least nothing that my current system has. It simply says it hasn't got a driver for it, but using the download from Belkin does nothing. :( I might have to have a "proper" look for the CDs.... I had two of these dongles, now got one. I should have 2 identical install CDs somewhere.

Have you tried downloading a driver from elsewhere.

Might be an older driver available that works better.

OK. After doing a lot of googleing, I managed to get a driver from driverguide.com (after going through their tedious, annoying signup process) - I now have what appears to be a good driver so I'll stick it on my USB HDD now and have a go at setting it up tomorrow. Too late now. [yawn! :D]

Alternatively, does it still work in your old PC? Do the new and old PCs run the same OS? If so, pop the dongle in the old PC and take a look at it in Device Manager. Copy the drivers it mentions across to a location on the new PC.

Pop the Belkin in the new PC, hit update driver in Device Manager and point it to where you've saved the copied drivers.

Hope this makes sense, at this hour! I've done this successfully before. With a Belkin device IIRC! Their driver download packages can be a bit crappy sometimes

Good luck,

Steve

Common problem with it. I have the 7050 v1 and the drivers are naff on XP or later. Ill send you a copy of the CD if you cant get it working (assuming I can find it  )
