Hello All,

Can anyone tell me when the new superb is to be launched, is it in 2007 or in 2008. I dont seem to be able to get much information about it anywhere except the same old pictures turning up all the time.

I'm pretty sure it will be 2008 seeing as we are half way through 2007 now and we knew quite a bit about the new fabia and octavia 6 months before launch , more than we know about the superb

I e-mailed skoda-auto CZ 6 weeks ago regarding visiting the Kvasiny plant in September and the reply was, unfortuneately i could'nt visit in Sept as the plant is being re-jigged for a new model. But i was told earlier in the year that it was due out in November.

Thanks Dr Zoidberg and Fofos for your replies, Im looking forward to seeing the new superb in the flesh. I have had 2 of them in the past and now have an Octavia vrs diesel which i like but I am going to go back to the superb in the future as the vrs is a bit too noisy for me but its still a great car to handle and drive. The superb is such a comfortable and relaxed car that makes any journey easy and thats what i miss. Thanks again for your replies.

I'm not sure I like it, inside is ok, front is similar to current, but the rear looks yuk imo.

My reading of the Italian article is that the new Superb will be a 5-door hatch, like the Octavia hatch. Does anyone have any news on this?

Now that I know there will be a new model, I'll postpone the replacement of my current Superb 1.9 TD 130BHP which I have been very happy with, especially the >55 MPG average consumption.

This subject has arisen a few times: The hatch is a two section affair, so that it can be opened as a full hatch:

or just the bottom section opens, like the boot on a saloon:

In the first picture, on the inside of the tailgate, are large black covers, which hide the hinge mechanism for the two sections.

I just phoned Skoda, they told me the new SUperb is coming out last quarter 2008 and they expect to have it up and running for our jan 2009 sales, as all the cars in quarter 2008 will be for dealer demo's

I have just returned from nottingham, and on the way home I went past a Skoda, well I think it was a skoda. It looked like a wider version of the superb, but estate bodied, but it was wider and longer than an octavia...maybe a test mule or something, but it had what looked like bigger versions of the octavia headights on the front. It looked nice, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't just an octavia estate, as I see loads of those all the time!

A Swedish guy born in cz translate some information into Swedish about the new Superb.

3,2 FSI 260hp as top petrol engine from the start. vRS is not planed at this moment but efter 2011 it could get an bigger engine for around 300hp. 1,4 TSI and 1,8TSI will also be found under the bonnet.

Superb will also get 1,6 TDI CR and 2,0TDI CR.

Top diesel version will be same as Audi have today. 3,0 TDI 230hp.

A 1.4 petrol engine in a Superb - You've got to be kidding :rofl:

Its a 1.4 Turbo Compressor engine, a VW Jetta and a VW Touran with the engine is pretty fast, so the Superb should be the same.

300bhp is bullsh**t 260bhp 3.2fsi a defo though

skoda unfortunately sell their cars to market segments on size and not power. I doubt you will see a Vrs superb. Mk 1 Fabia and Octavia had Vrs and the Mk1 superb never did.

Yeah that's true, I saw a grey car on the site with the sides scooped in from a high swage line, add the rear lights and it had clues, but as you say you can see it's the current one from the picture you posted.

I think its the same car TBH, with nicely CGI'd sides!

Is that not just the reflection of the surroundings? I am with you though on that being the Chinese (current Superb) Passat.

The new one is vastly different!
