Octavia mk1 Ice

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looking to upgrade the rubbish stock system in my mk1 vRS.

Ok, so basically going to upgrade the headunit, fronts and stick a sub in the boot and probably not worry about the rear speakers for a while / ever.

Few questions....

How are the front speakers crossover set-up as standard?

How would I connect the sub up so it turns off when I turn the ignition off?

I've also been looking at these items, has anyone had any experience with them? I read the speakers will fit but just double checking:

Speakers:

Headunit:

Sub:

Would I need anything else? Just want a fairly low cost set-up that's easy to install (will probably be doing it myself with no experience) and sounds decent enough.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Not to sure on standard front crossovers(probably a cap on the tweeters)

You should be able to connect the remote wire on the alpine HU to the remote on the fli amp/sub this will turn it on when the HU is on.Speakers should fit you can fit 6.5" drivers in the standard locations. And mount the tweeters under the standard tweeter grills. You dont need anything else but i would suggest sound deadening the front doors and the boot aswell.

Will the sound deadening make that much difference? Surely the car has some as standard?

Thinking I might buy this all in and get someone proper to fit it, I can see myself blowing something up!

No other opinions? :)

Are the front speakers / tweater easy to change?

Do I have to take the door car off, or just the grill?

The grille pops out so you don't need to remove the whole door card.

The standard speakers just have a capacitor attached to the tweeter.

You'll have a "remote" wire from the head unit to amplifier that signals when the amp needs to power up and down.
