Octavia I Elegance 17" wheels on a 12V?

Featured Replies

Any issues with doing this, and anyone got any photos of this combination?

And has anyone that's done similar had their insurance change much?

I did of course mean 16"...

They are quite a bit bigger and heavier than the standard steelies so your performance and fuel economy might suffer.

You'd also probably need different sized tyres to the 205/55/16 that are fitted on the wheels on the octy which is worth bearing in mind.

I think they'd look very nice though

It looks like I'd have to go for 205/45 16 to keep the rolling radius about the same. But you're right, even going to blackcircles, I'd end up paying about

There was at least one person who'd gone from steelies to 16 or 17" alloys and complained of decreased performance on a 12v.

As well as the weight the tyres are a fair bit wider which adds to the rolling resistance.
