This is the first thread i've posted on here even though i have been using this forum for info for a while now. So hi!

I've been doing agonising research on suspension upgrades and what the best option available and i think i've read nearly every thread on here about it but still have some questions to ask.

I basically want to improve the cars handling without compromising the ride quality as i do a lot of miles a year, and a lot of motorway driving in that. But i have a passion for going to Hillclimb open days and ended up feeling a bit frustrated at the last one. Just to be clear i have no gripes with the general road manner but only when you push on in the corners and when the roll starts to kick in it makes me feel very sad :( .

Also i don't want to show much of a visual change so that someone (my girlfriend) wouldn't know i have spent extra money on my car but someone in the know would notice, maybe.

My options that i very nearly have payed money for are a set of Weitec Hicon TX coilovers (partly cos they're green and they seem like a good price) which would only lower the car 20mm (35mm from the standard fabia but vRS already 15mm lower)

Have you considered the Eibach springs & dampers?

They drop the vRS by approx 25mm & give an improved feel without being too stif.

I do approx 16,000 miles per year & have no issues with the ride quality.

I would also recommend a Jabbasport rear anti-roll bar.

To be honest i have mainly looking at the coilovers as the majority of people that i have spoken to have always said "get the coilovers" but they never have them themselves. Usually put down to a cost thing but i am willing to spend the extra money if they are that much better.

Has anyone had the opportunity to experience both for comparison, uprated springs and dampers vrs coilovers?

As for the anti-roll bar, this is probably a dead cert but at the moment was going to do this after getting the supension upgrade as have been lead to believe it would not make much noticeable difference on the factory suspension.

Its makes a HUGH difference on factory suspension. Get the roll bar.

I found the eibach spring/dampers not that good personally. Put it down to the dampers. Dive uder braking was still their as was bodyroll. Get the roll bar first then see what you think.

After that get coilovers. Blistein do them for the vRS as do KW. KW now have a comfort coilover range but dont think its includes the fabia yet.

Thanks for that first i've heard of the anti-roll bar with factory susp makjng a good difference, might be because of the sales motive from the various companies, more money to be made form coilovers than roll bars.

Just an extra point would you get front and back uprated roll bars then?

What would be the chosen brand?

Just the rear. 2 people make them. Whitline Automotive which is a 20mm. Jabbasport 23mm. H&R did make some but only for VW Racing.

Dont think anyone on here has the Whiteline one. Jabba's is excellent. Costs around

Increase in understeer.

Having a negative effect on the rear. General guide is increase front will increase understeer. Increase rear gives oversteer.

I'd suggest you look at the Eibach spring and Koni FSD damper route. I'm very impressed, and if you look in Awesome GTi's section on here, you'll see I was enquiring about coilovers and seemed to have very similar requirements to you. Search for comments on them, or see my post in JKM's section here. I just had them fitted last week.

The Weitec's were on my radar too, but just didn't have the confidence to be the 1st to try them out! I couldn't find anyone who had them on a Fabia. And with the money involved, it was too risky. I saw it as the fact I wouldn't really want to adjust the height or damping after a setup was fitted, so the coilover route didn't offer any advantages really. And the vRS ends up being low enough I feel, after the 30mm Eibach drop, especially with its fairly vunerable sump...

Yes defo rear ARB coilovers could be a bit harsh , but Eibach are good , the FSD`s are superb too

I have the Koni STR.T kit on my Fabia 100PD and it lowers it superbly from me

I have just had a conversation with the guys at Jabbasport and am getting the rear ARB fitted next monday. I'm going on a roadtrip throught france next tuesday with a friend and wanted to make sure i have the edge before we go hence the rush decision. Feeling pretty good bout it tho from the replies on here so thanks.

I'm gonna give the Jabbasport ARB a try with the susp as is and it may solve the problem completely. I'll post my humble opinion on here then. If not content i'll start a thread for "ARB fitted! What next?"

Wouldn't mind a run out in a furby with the full susp upgrade tho, i'm near Leeds prob out of your area tho :( .

Well, come along to the Malt House meet, a week on Thursday. Just down the road from you really Details in the meets section. You'll find me there, as well as a few other combinations of Fabia suspension probably

Ok this won't deal with roll, but has anyone considered using adjustable rate dampers with standard springs? It's not like high speed long duration corners are much of an issue in hill-climbing.

The Koni FSDs for the Fabia are actually designed to be used with the standard springs. But it just so happens to be that they also work very well with a reduced height Eibach Pro-Sport spring (-30mm). Best of both worlds in my opinion - good damping, less roll and dive and it looks a bit better being nearer the ground

My undertray liked speed bumps too much with the springs fitted. Then it had a falling out with the hump back on the way to work
