1/4 mile in a remap?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Sorry if it has been asked before. has anyone done a 1/4 mile in a vrs reamped car?

Thanks!:)

At Santa Pod (grippy surface) the norm for a vRS Fabia with "just" a remap is around 16 seconds flat. :)

16.25 for a stock one is good going - Would need hooking up well off the line to get that. Don't forget the surface as even with my 200 (and "something") BHP I was only getting low 15s on a concrete 1/4 mile, but hoping for 14s at Santa Pod. :)

Apparently Traction, or lack of it is the main reason why more power than stock doesnt give much faster 1/4 mile times than 15's. Seriously remapped fabia vRS should get 14's with proper tires, LSD and technique I understand....

Watch Jabba Luke and Devonutopia's posts for info on this. (BTW Jabba Luke has a 1/4 mile at Santa Pod video on youtube IIRC) Lotsa smoke...

LSD, Doesn't neccesarily help you gain grip from a standing start. I cannot see a remapped Fabia, breaking the middle 15 seconds, with a Quaife, technique and a pure remapping session.

Let alone the 14 second barrier.

Didnt shifty get 15.5ish in his fabia?

Think a few people over on SCN have broken the 15sec barrier.

Shifty got 15s at the pod, but was mapped to around 165/170bhp IIRC. :)

Dunno, but I seem to be able to put down more power down with the LSD in the straight - when wheels start to slip, they both do together - seems easier to back off a tad - car runs straight, no weaving. Do think that would make a difference to straight-line take off. Of course an ATB ("LSD") works far more in cornering.......

The other thing of course is that the OEM diff rivets have been known to "let go" usually blowing a hole in the diff housing with excessive wheelspin. The Peloquin has solid bolts that allow wheelspin until the cows come home...

The map that I had before the current one was from a very reputable tuner and was RR'd on a mate's car- 187.summat bhp - this with stock turbo and no FMIC....

Roll on summer - have another couple of upgrades to sort out.....

As good as the 1/4 miles times are for me I prefer the 0-100 or 30-100 these really show the flexability of an engine.

Many cars do not get over 100mph on the 1/4 mile & as we all know at higher speeds the TDi's suffer, all bar the brillient 535D 2007 model mmmm

This is about 1/4 mile times. No one cares what you prefer.

I dont care what you prefer either but thaks for letting me know ;). I especially like the many posts you make which have no relevance to mine. Plus love your non agressive attitude - hence the tone of this reply.

One thing I have an issue with here is there a rule that anything posted in a thread must 100% relate to the thread title?

If so why is that? explain.

it's his opinion though, I don't see why you had to say what you did.

He gave a reason to why her prefers this too, which is a valid reason and shows a bit of intelligence unlike some

He's a troll. Simple as. Although, Some people don't have enough intelligence to see it. Like some.

You might me right, but as a (small) part of this forum, I prefer for you not to speak on my behalf.

Here's a link to some drags Robz:

(PS. yes, it was a clear troll - WTF have BMWs got to do with this?!)

Woah, woah. I think you're going a bit off-topic here mate. If you want to troll take it to another forum please, no need for you to bring it in here is there?

so a time of 15-16 secs for a remaped fab is good going? thanks that answers my Q!

: )

Keep it on topic please guys and less of the slanging match!.

Yes, given my (to be proven still) 250bhp only produced a 15.28 down the 1/4 mile (wasn't a proper drag strip surface though), a 16 flat would be a good time for "just" a remap. :)

Well said!

Let me guess, he started talking about BMW's?

If you put him on your ignore list you can't see what he says.

Bliss :D
