New to the Octavia, advice please

Featured Replies

I'll be collecting my new Octavia on Friday and I want to start the audio install.

How do you remove the standard radio from an Octavia (brand new '04 model)

I will also have the stereo controls on the wheel, will this work with any aftermarket HUs?

The front speakers are 6.5" and the rears 4"?

What is the easiest way to get 0 gauge cable down the car? Is there a nice big grommit waiting for me? (I hope)

This is the bit that worries me the most....

If I disconnect the battery, how long should I wait before I do anything? I have heard of problems with airbag sensors if they are disconnected within 10 min.

Any other information that will help?

Cheers

Dale

Ask the dealer to release it for you when you pick the car up

IIRC you can get adapters for other cars to integrate the aftermarket H/U with steering wheel controls not too sure about availability for the Octavia though

Yeap' date='fronts are 17cm or 6.5". Watch the depth/size of the magnets - the lower window guide bracket can get in the way. I've just fitted some Infinity 6500cs and need to attack this bracket with a hacksaw. Not sure about the rears - I've got an estate.

Now problems as long as you are not messing with the air bags. If your worried and only intend to work on the stereo, then just pull the radio fuse.

There is a large grommet on the drivers side underneath the plastic windscreen wiper bit (Thanks for the info Des !!). I know that you say 0 guage, but I presume you know just how big this is, and that you are planning a LARGE system ????

I'm just about to strip the crarpet out of mine, and am also putting in 0 guage for a large SPL system (Demo system for the company I work for !!). If I can help in any way then please let me know...
