Just put 3 aquapels on the mongrel

Featured Replies

Well, I had some lying around from the last group buy so thought I'd give the furby a fresh coating. The drill went something like this.

Firstly, a good wash. This involved a big bucket, warm water and some lairy fiquid  (and an old barmat - I find these the best "rag/cloth" to use to wash a car)

Secondly, leather down - proper chamois. Still some marks though.

Thirdly, autoglym glass polish. gave the glass uber clean shine.

Then time to apply. First aquapel went on the windscreen and the nearside front window. went over the screen many times with the pad, and the window, and gave both mirrors a small amount too. Once beaded down a fair bit, polished off with some kitchen towel.

Second went on the back screen and the rear side windows. Again rear screen given lots of runs over with the applicator pad until beaded down. Polished off quick with kitchen towel as direct sunlight on the back meant it was evaporating a bit fast for my liking.

Third one went on the windscreen again. Could tell the first treatment was doing it's thing as the new aquapel coat was beading up already and running down the screen! Cue some frantic catching with the pad and making sure it was put where needed  Did the driver's side window as well, plus the mirrors again. Once beaded up fine, polished off with the now slightly tainted kitchen towel bit and voila! One very aquapel'd car.

I'm now feeling like some testing but the weather is nice again so I'm perhaps about 6 weeks late in getting this stuff on. :o

Nice - must give the Fabia an application, with the remaining packs I have.

Mine still going well from the 2nd buy.

Fairy liquid? Are you mental?

Fairy liquid, warm water, washing in sunlight, a beer mat :S

Slightly worrying!

Fairy liquid is abrasive to clean your dishes and IIRC also contains salt which is corrosive.

i think he was joing about the fairy liquid lol..............wasn't he ?

A small amount in a bucket of water has never done any harm to my car. And a bar towel is merely a very tough cloth and that's never done any harm either. :)

Anyway, this is about the aquapel, not my cleaning methods.

It is the "glazing" his is doing, so that is what he would want , lairy fiquid to degrease and remove all wax and residue and "banned "bar towels what a great use, very absorbent cotton and no lint

Now if it was paintwork :( he could look out of the shiney windows at the de waxed and scratched bonnet :-)
