ABS issue over bumps/expansion gaps

Featured Replies

I have had this happen a few times, but never remembereed to post.

It happens seldomly, but when it does it is very noticeable.

For example - today I was slowing/braking (medium to firm braking) for traffic lights and just before the line for traffic to stop there was a noticeable expansion gap on bridge. The car didnt brake very well after the judder as we went over the gap and I can only describe it as ABS cutting (at v slow speed <10mph) but no grinding.

Odd...

Anyone?

Yup... Just the crap ABS on the furby....

Same thing caused me to run into someone because it just removed all my braking force when some old giffer pulled out infront of me.

Great!! :P

Yes, It does wake you up when it does it! Luckily I have only had it about half a dozen times in 3 years on my two Fabias (PD100 and vRS).

I think the only way around it is probably to take your foot off the brake and reapply - but because it happens so irregularly it can be hard to determine when it is actually happening and take the necessary action!
